Canadian Gardening to be celebrated at Fundraiser for The Arboretum at the University of Guelph

Special Event & Presentation featuring Celebrity Gardener, Owen Reeves, to be held on
Friday May 12th to both Inspire and Celebrate Gardening in Canada
Canadian gardening and its many possibilities will be featured in a special presentation by well-known gardening expert, Owen Reeves, on Friday May 12th (7 p.m.) to support the great work of The Arboretum at the University of Guelph. This event, created through a partnership between The Compost Council of Canada and select botanical gardens across the country, promises to both entertain and inspire gardeners – whether first time or seasoned. Tickets are $20 and may be ordered in advance by visiting www.compost.org. Proceeds from the event will be directed to The Arboretum at the University of Guelph.
The presentation is being held during International Compost Awareness Week (May 7 – 13), an annual event for the past 23 years which brings awareness to the important role that organics recycling and compost use plays to address a broad range of environmental and local job issues including waste diversion, greenhouse gas reductions, water conservation and healthy, productive soils.
“Partnering with fellow botanical gardens and the Compost Council of Canada is particularly meaningful in Canada’s sesquicentennial year when we all can celebrate our lives and growth together,” said Shelley Hunt, The Arboretum at the University of Guelph. “We look forward to this special evening with Owen Reeves as well as having him learn more about our plant collections and gardens, which are home to almost 2000 species and varieties of trees and shrubs from Ontario and around the globe.”
The tour is being supported by Premier Tech and BIOMAX® CQA-certified compost. Along with admission to the presentation, each attendee will receive a reusable bag courtesy of CQA-Certified BIOMAX as well as a magazine from HARROWSMITH.
