Mayfly Nymph

Kingdom: Animalia

Phylum: Arthropoda

Class: Insecta

Order: Ephemeroptera

Mayfly nymphs are the immature aquatic stage of mayflies. These funny looking creatures have a more flattened head (which helps with staying anchored in fast flowing water) than similar dragonfly nymphs. They also have feathery gills on the sides of their abdomen which they use to breathe.
