Arboretum Wildflowers and other Non-woody Plants

Body:

wildflowers

From early spring carpets of trilliums, trout lilies and bloodroot to late fall fields of goldenrods and asters, The Arboretum's various habitats provide a home for many species of wildflowers and other non-woody plants. These in turn attract many wildlife species to their pollen, nectar, seeds, leaves and roots.

Victoria Woods in early May is alive with White Trillium blooms.

We teach a variety of wildflower identification, gardening and photography workshops [1] (click here [2]) at The Arboretum. We also sell Spring Woodland Wildflowers of The Arboretum booklets [3] (click here) [4] to help you identify the beautiful flowers you may find in our woods.

The land where The Arboretum now grows has been home to plants and animals for thousands of years. It was home to Indigenous peoples long before settlers arrived. We recognize the traditional, ancestral, and treaty lands of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Attawandaron, and Mississaugas of the Credit peoples, as well as the Dish with One Spoon covenant covering the Between the Lakes Treaty 3 lands on which the University of Guelph and The Arboretum now sit. We are honoured to work on and care for this land.
