Submitted by mbarth on April 21st, 2025 4:09 PM
Date:
Wednesday, July 23rd, 2025 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
Location:

Format: In-person at the Arboretum

  • Instructor: Joseph Langlois, Christa Wise
  • Fee: $12 (plus HST) per person

What lies beneath the surface of The Arboretum’s ponds? Join us for a hands-on pond study and discover the fascinating creatures that call these waters home! Using nets and sample trays, we’ll dip into the pond to find aquatic insects, amphibians, and other hidden life. Along the way, we’ll discuss their unique adaptations, life cycles, and roles in the ecosystem. This is a great opportunity to get up close with nature and learn more about the incredible biodiversity of freshwater habitats. Wear waterproof boots and be ready to get a little muddy!

*Maximum 20 adults.

The land where The Arboretum now grows has been home to plants and animals for thousands of years.  It was home to Indigenous peoples before settlers arrived. We recognize the Dish with One Spoon territory, the treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Between the Lakes Treaty 3 lands on which the University of Guelph and The Arboretum now sit. We are honoured to work on and care for this land.
