Professor Pricklethorn

Learn to see trees through the Professor’s eyes and his green-coloured lenses and you will see the environment around you in a very different way. Trees are not just outdoor furniture for us to use.  If we learn to respect and care for trees then they can help us and the global environment in countless ways.

Professor Pricklethorn wants to help teachers, parents, and children learn how to make the connection between science and everyday life by learning about the many good things that trees do for us every single day.

GUFF Henry Kock Tree Stewardship Award Henry Kock Stewardship Award- Henry was known for his dedication to growing, protecting and advocating for trees and their natural environment. In his work at the Arb, he developed many programs  including the Elm Recovery Program. Henry was cherished for his wisdom, integrity and mentorship, and each year we honour another member of our community who embodies these characteristics in their stewardship of our trees. Join us for the announcement of the 2025 winner and presentation of the Award Certificate.
Elderly Brothers Garage Band Join us for a live musical performance of the Elderly Brothers Garage Band! A little bit classic country and a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll. We’ll have you leaving with a smile on your face and a tune in your heart.

The land where The Arboretum now grows has been home to plants and animals for thousands of years.  It was home to Indigenous peoples before settlers arrived. We recognize the Dish with One Spoon territory, the treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Between the Lakes Treaty 3 lands on which the University of Guelph and The Arboretum now sit. We are honoured to work on and care for this land.
