Research Coordinator, Aron Fazekas, holds a Ph.D. in conservation biology, with expertise in population genetics and molecular ecology. His research interests include conservation genetics, and the impact of factors such as hybridization, introgression, disease, fragmentation etc., on threatened Ontario plant taxa. Aron facilitates research requests, coordinates various ongoing and collaborative research activities on the Arboretum grounds, and engages in Arboretum-led research. Aron led development of our online collections database, Arboretum Explorer, and formalization of our Living Collections Policy. This role supports research and conservation efforts, user requests, as well as grant writing and policy development. Aron serves on the Arboretum Management Group, and also volunteers as a board member of the Forest Gene Conservation Association (FGCA).
