Biodiversity Sheets to promote Nature Awareness

Submitted by wbsadmin on April 12th, 2016 2:36 PM

We now have 12 different designs of our double-sided, 11 X 17 laminated biodiversity sheets. These sheets have been designed to help everyone see the diversity of the life that can be found just outside their doors. Each sheet has over 50 different organisms to watch for. The sheets are great learning tools and also make pretty funky placemats! The topics include:

  • Backyard Birds
  • Mammals (including tracks) Reptiles, Amphibians and Dragonflies
  • Butterflies and Moths
  • Fungi and Lichens
  • Spring Woodland Wildflowers
  • Summer Field Wildflowers
  • Native Tree Leaves
  • Pond Life
  • Goldenrod Life
  • Indoor Wildlife
  • Caterpillars

The printing of the sheets has received financial support from the Gosling Foundation and many local photographers donated photos for the project. To see the layouts of each sheet and get purchase information (they are only $4 each or all 12 for $40), please click here.

The land where The Arboretum now grows has been home to plants and animals for thousands of years.  It was home to Indigenous peoples before settlers arrived. We recognize the Dish with One Spoon territory, the treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Between the Lakes Treaty 3 lands on which the University of Guelph and The Arboretum now sit. We are honoured to work on and care for this land.
